<BR><BR>1960年,美国最流行的歌曲之一就是这首The Brothers Four演唱组的Greenfields <BR>歌曲的开头唱道—— <BR>Once there were greenfields, kissed by the sun/Once there were valleys where rivers used to run/Once there were blue skies with white clouds high above/Once they were part of an everlasting love.... <BR><BR>短短数行,便唤起了人们年轻时代的感伤回忆:这,曾经是美国最好的风景。四十年来,这首歌无数次的在电台中被播放,可是,这些绿地都到了哪里去了呢? <BR><BR>小镇社区被条带状的商业区取代,田野变成了停车场。绿地消失在工业化的都市边缘的同时,处于内部的城市丧失了很多工作机会以及支撑公立学校所必需的税款,人口集中居住在大都市中,而且渐渐都移向都市的外围,从而使得都市不断扩张。这就是美国的社会学家们所面临的当今最富挑战性的社会问题。 <BR><BR>这种趋势就如沙漠吞并周围的地区一般,如果不采取措施,不需要很长的时间,存在的就只有几十个庞大无比的大都市了。 <BR><BR>Once there were green fields, kissed by the sun.
